Recently, multiple people sent me the link to watch an on-line movie called: "Genetic Roulette, the Gamble of Our Lives". I did watch it, twice. And I will watch it a third time when the copy I ordered arrives. Why? I wish to remain in good health, this is important info, and I want to be an informed consumer. I want to know what I am eating, to know if my food contains genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
In this film, Jeffery Smith, founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology, interviews a wide variety of scientists, doctors, farmers, activists, and parents, discussing their first-hand experiences with:
- FDA ignoring warnings from their own scientists.
- University agricultural scientists removed from their University positions because they dared stand up to the FDA or Monsanto, or other chemical companies.
- Doctors and veterinarians' accounts of patients (human and non-human) sickened by GMO food exposure, and returned to health by removal of GMO foods from their diet.
- Obvious connections between sickened and dying cattle and the components of their feed.
- Children with autism who had reduced symptoms when taken off GMO foods.
- Potential GMO connection to reduced fertility. And more...
It seems that multiple health epidemics in this country: obesity, allergies, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and on and on... have increased at a rate directly correlated with the introduction and increase of genetically modified food crops in our food supply. And, the reports that this GMO program is able to "feed the world" may be more a sound bite than have anything to do with fact. The only ones benefiting from GMOs are the chemical companies and all those they have paid off. (Just a guess here. I have no proof. Can you tell I'm angry?)
One of the more telling comments I heard was from a farmer who said he'd had bags of both genetically modified feed and non-genetically modified feed stored in his barn. He said that when mice got in they went for the non-GMO grains. They wouldn't eat the GMOs.
For those with compromised health, having knowledge of which foods contain GMOs and which do not could mean the difference between illness and health. I would like to see us all become as well informed as possible, so.... Here's a link to the movie on-line. It costs $2.99 to watch it. http://geneticroulettemovie.com/
I did order a copy of the film. I invite anyone who has an interest to join me for a viewing and discussion afterward. Date time, and location TBA. Please call me at: 314-544-2555 or e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the list to contact re: show time.
The challenge for October??? Find Halloween candies for Trick-or-Treaters without GMOs! Here's a hint: they are in most of the U.S. crops of corn (high fructose corn syrup), soy (soy oil, lecithin), sugar beets (accounting for at least half of our sugar and molasses... cane or organic sugars are okay) and canola and cottonseed (oils). Good luck. Let me know if you have any good ideas. For a clearer picture of which US crops are GMOs, click on the link http://www.responsibletechnology.org/buy-non-gmo
Have a healthy and happy month...
P.S. A treat for you:
Hydrogenated oil, corn syrup.
Horrors! The veil thins!
